Sell your hurricane damaged property and keep the insurance check

Unfortunately hurricanes are a way of life in Louisiana. While we need to learn to live with the threat of hurricanes when that threat become reality it is a devastating blow. Being left with a damaged home that you need to fix at a time when everyone is looking for roofers and contractors can be very stressful. This is only compounded by the fact that a lot of the possession you lost have priceless sentimental value. But Louisianans are strong and always get back on their feet. For some people that means repairing their home and for other people that may mean moving to a new home. If you don’t want to rebuild your house and would prefer to take your insurance payout and then sell your house in as is condition then selling your house to Home Buyer Louisiana may be a good option.

You can view the video of our Founder Steve Keighery walking through a hurricane damaged house in Laplace and discussing how combining an insurance check with an is sale can be used as an option for people who would prefer to move to a new house that is move in ready as opposed to repairing a damaged property. I’m here at a house we’re looking to purchase. We’re in Laplace. Laplace was hit very heavily from hurricane Ida, so there is a lot of devastation in the area. It’s quite sad to drive the streets really.

This homeowner is in a bad situation. If you look behind me, the house looks nice for a second, but they’ve had to gut out a lot of the property because it took damage through water—a real shame. It’s a nice beautiful house with high ceilings, four bedrooms, two baths, and many more. But Ida came along and did a lot of damage to it and now there’s a lot to replace and the owners reach out to us because they don’t really want to do the renovation. They would prefer to get the insurance check, and to sell the house fast in As is condition.

If your property gets damaged by the hurricane, a decent option you have is to get the check from the insurance company and sell the house in as is condition to someone like us—a cash house buyer. By getting the insurance check and selling to someone like us, you don’t have to do the rehabilitation of the property, and you can purchase a new house that is move in ready.

Remember, the house is damaged so a cash buyer like us can’t pay what it was worth before it got damaged, as we need to be able to come in, renovate it and make profit. But when you combine the proceeds from selling in as is condition with the insurance money, you can actually do okay. And you can buy a house when you put both payments together. So, this is an option if you’ve been affected by a hurricane.

I really hate to see these sorts of events and the destruction they cause. But if you are in this kind of situation, you want all the options you can get, and one option is to sell as is to an investor like us, and also use the and keep the insurance money for yourself. If you’re in a situation like that, give us a call, we’re happy to help. We will be glad to help you weigh up your options. You can also check out our website, homebuyerlouisiana.com, we have a lot of information on it about selling your house in as is condition.

Thanks.
