We bought this tear down in Algiers

We bought this house in Algiers that was in such bad shape the only solution was to tear the house down and build a new one. While we are never quick to tear a house down and always try to save it but in this case it was just too far gone. Hey guys, it’s Aussie Steve from Home Buyer Louisiana. We buy houses in any condition in Louisiana. I’m here at a property that we’re purchasing on the West Bank of Orleans Parish, in Algiers. Now this house is definitely one of those “As-Is” condition houses. This one is in real bad condition. Look guys, we do buy nicer houses too, so you don’t always have to sell us the bad ones 🙂 But seriously we are happy to do this sort of work.

This house has actually been in the family for a while. It’s been vacant for a long time. There are actually a lot of heirs, people who had been the rightful heirs had passed away and then their share passed down to their children so there’s quite a number of people that are on title to the property.

When there are lots of part owners it is common that no one really looks after the house which is definitely the case here. They wanted to sell and be done with the burden because they were getting code violations and had overdue taxes.

I won’t show you around because I’m literally about to fall through the floor here. I haven’t walked through all this house, you can see holes in the roof, you can see how rotted away that wood is from termites and moisture. The floor has a big hole in it there. I literally almost put my foot through here so I’m not going to walk in. It’s actually too dangerous to walk in.

This house is actually a tear down. It’s too far gone. There’s just too many things wrong, the roof, the floor, the framing’s all eaten out there’s not much to save here. So to be honest it really is just better to to be a tear down.

But it’s okay, we deal with these sorts of properties. The house is an eyesore for the neighborhood. It’s just getting code violations and it’s not helping anyone. We love to help take these properties off people’s hands and then we can make something productive. We can tear this house down and we can build a new house. It brings up the neighborhood and helps the people who own the property walk away with money from their inheritance.
