We bought this inherited house that had been vacant for years
We bought this inherited house in Hammond that had been vacant for years. The owner had inherited the house and didn’t want to put the time and money into fixing it up. He lived out of state and the house needed a lot of work. It had been vacant for years and had mold and wood rot throughout the house. It would have been a big job to fix up and the new owner just preferred to turn their inheritance into cash so reached out to Home Buyer Louisiana.
We inspected the property and while it needed a lot of work these are the sort of houses that we buy. We agreed on a cash price and were happy to buy the house in As Is condition. Obviously when a house is in this condition it is hard for anyone to use bank finance to buy the house so selling to a cash buyer like us was a great option.
We like buying houses like this. An inheritance is meant to be a blessing but when the house needs a lot of work it can be a burden and another stress that you don’t need during a difficult period. To be able to turn this burden into cash is a great relief for the sellers and we love helping people achieve this. We also like flip projects so it is a real win-win situation.
If you have an inherited house or a house that needs a lot of repairs reach out to us to see if we are a good fit as a buyer. We are happy to give you advice and ensure you understand your options even if we don’t end up being your buyer. Give us a call or fill in our online form to discuss your property and situation.

Hey guys, it’s Aussie Steve here from Home Buyer Louisiana. We buy houses in any condition in Louisiana. I’m here at a property we’re looking to purchase in St. Tammany Parish, in the Hammond area.
The property’s been vacant for quite a while and it’s definitely not in great condition. It’s not ready for a homeowner to move in. We’re looking at potentially buying it for cash in its current as-is condition to renovate and flip.
Let me show you around. You can see the house has been sitting for a while. There’s evidence of water intrusion from the roof, and the kitchen needs to be completely redone. There’s also some mold starting to develop—actually, quite a bit toward the back of the house. I saw from the outside that some of the rear wood is rotten, likely due to water coming in that way.
Looking around, there’s paperwork scattered, and it looks like the spiders have moved in—though I doubt they’re paying rent! It’s hard to see in this lighting, but there’s clear water damage and mold. One of the windows is completely rotted and needs replacing. The bathroom, like the rest of the house, needs a full remodel.
This house is a complete rehab job. It’s not something that can be listed on the MLS to a retail buyer, and it’s certainly not a property a bank would lend on in this condition. But that’s exactly the kind of house we buy. We pay cash, buy as is, and make it really easy for the seller.
We always aim to create win-win situations. Since we don’t use bank financing, we can close quickly—usually within two weeks. You get paid fast, and you can move on from the property. Then it becomes our project. We’re happy to apply our network, our skills, our expertise, and our money to fix up properties like this and make them ready for a new homeowner to enjoy.
There’s really no point in letting a house sit like this. In Louisiana, vacant houses don’t do well. You’ll deal with termites, water damage, squatters, and overall deterioration. The value keeps going down. If you want to fix it up and sell it, great—that should be your first option. But if you don’t want to put in the time or money, don’t just let it sit. Sell it to someone who will take care of it. That’s a much better outcome.
