Selling a Flood-Damaged Family Home As-Is in Hammond, Louisiana
This Hammond property had been in the same family for many years before it experienced flooding. At the time, no one in the family was living in the home, and after the flood, the interior was completely gutted. Since then, the house has been sitting vacant.
The property shows clear signs of wear and tear. On the exterior, there are no gutters, there is visible soffit and fascia damage, and the AC unit is not working. The carport includes makeshift posts added to help keep the structure upright. Inside, every room has been torn out, leaving the home ready for major repairs. Situations like this often push homeowners to sell a house as-is instead of investing more time and money into renovations.
In this video, Dillon from Home Buyer Louisiana walks through the situation, explains the condition of the house, and shares why the family decided not to move forward with renovations. Flooding and long-term vacancy are common reasons people look into selling after storm or flood damage, especially when the repairs feel overwhelming. Hammond is one of the larger cities in Tangipahoa Parish, where many older homes have faced similar flood-related issues over the years.

Hey everyone, it’s Dillon with Home Buyer Louisiana. I’m out here about a 45-minute drive from New Orleans in Hammond.
This house has been in the family for quite some time and went through some flooding. No one in the family was living here, so they gutted it and it has just been sitting. I can’t get inside right now, but I have been inside this property.
On the exterior, there is wear and tear. There are no gutters, and there is some damage to the soffit and fascia. The AC does not work. Some of the posts for the carport are more of a DIY setup. You can see work that was done to help keep the structure upright on the patio.
Inside, the house is completely gutted. Every single room was torn up. I did not see any damage on the ceiling, so I’m suspecting all of the water damage came from the ground up, not from the roof down.
This family reached out to us because they do not want to deal with renovations, and no one in the family wants to live here and take on the work. They contacted us through HomeBuyerLouisiana.com and filled out the form, and now I’m here in Hammond to help them out. Let us help you out.
