We bought this hurricane damaged Metairie property

Hurricane damage is something many Metairie homeowners have had to deal with. This property on the East Bank had taken a beating during a recent storm, and the seller tried to handle the repairs on their own. They made some progress but eventually ran into the same problems many people face in this area. Costs kept rising, insurance pushed back, and the house sat half finished with no clear path forward.

Many homeowners here end up selling a house after a natural disaster, especially when the structure needs more work than they can handle. The homeowner reached out to us because they knew we buy houses in As Is condition. They were tired, overwhelmed, and ready for a way out. We understood the stress they were carrying and worked with them to make a cash offer that felt realistic for the situation. There were title complications from paperwork that had not been handled correctly years ago, but our title team is used to untangling old issues like that. We were able to move everything forward so the seller could close and move on. Many homeowners dealing with storm destruction end up needing to sell a house as-is when repairs stall. For this situation, the seller also had old paperwork problems that fit common scenarios involving selling inherited property.

What’s up, everybody? It’s John with Home Buyer Louisiana. I’m in a house in Metairie, Louisiana. As you can see, there’s not a lot left of it here. The seller actually came to us because their insurance claim was denied after some storm damage. They had managed to get halfway through repairing the house but couldn’t afford to continue, and unfortunately, it ended up in the shape you see now.

We talked with the homeowner and were able to agree on a price that worked for them. This allowed them to move out and move on. However, there were some title issues related to old divorce paperwork that had been done improperly about 20 years ago. We had to help them work through a succession process. Luckily, we have people who specialize in that, so we were able to resolve the issues with help from our title attorney friends.

In the end, we managed to get everything sorted, and the homeowner was able to move on to the next chapter of their life and be with family. We now have a new project to work on here in Metairie, but most importantly, it was a happy ending for the seller.
