Fed Up Landlord Sells Rental Property in Algiers with Foundation Issues

Some rental properties are more trouble than they’re worth. That was the case with this house in Algiers, on the West Bank of New Orleans, where the owner had grown tired of dealing with tenant turnover, maintenance, and deferred repairs. After years of managing the home as a rental, it was finally vacant—and in need of major work, from foundation settling to a new roof.

Jon from Home Buyer Louisiana walked the property and could feel the uneven floors and see the cracks in the sheetrock. The house was raised, which makes some repairs easier, but it clearly needed attention. Add to that the overgrown vegetation and wear and tear from tenant use, and the seller just didn’t want to deal with it anymore.

That’s where we came in.

We made a fair cash offer, allowing the landlord to walk away without the hassle of repairs or prepping for listing. Now we’ll renovate the property and get it back into commerce, creating a better home for the next family and a win-win for everyone.

You can watch the video to see the property and hear more about the situation, or read the video transcript below.

Hey. What’s up, everybody? It’s Jon with Homebuyer Louisiana. I am in a house on the West Bank, Algiers to be specific, West Bank Of New Orleans. And as you can see, everything’s a little dated.

It’s a little, yeah, just dated a little bit. Got some foundation settling. I can feel in the floor. You can also see kind of some stress cracks in the sheetrock. House is raised, so it shouldn’t be the biggest deal to fix it, but, it’s definitely noticeable.

I can feel it in different spots of the room. It’s a little little wonky walking through here. But yeah. Otherwise, it’s a pretty cool, pretty simple little house. The seller is just ready to move on.

It was a rental. As you can see, it’s vacant now. A lot of a lot of people just get tired of dealing with tenants, breaking stuff, moving in, moving out, just in general, and and this person is tired of being a landlord. And so, they don’t wanna do the repairs either. There’s a little bit of you know, as we saw already, there’s also some, like, some vegetation growing through, some cracks, needs a new roof.

I mean, you name it. It’s just a lot of, like, a lot of stuff for some people. So, we’re here to help. We love houses like this, and, we made an offer that works for them. And, I think we’re gonna be able to put it back in in good shape and put it back into commerce for somebody to live in again.

And, yeah. So we’re happy. They’re happy. Should work out well for everybody. So, yeah, if you have a house like this in any condition in South Louisiana or Coastal Mississippi, check us out, homebuyerlouisiana.com.
