Clearing Out a Hoarder House in Metairie – One Box at a Time

Some houses tell a story the moment you walk through the door—and sometimes, that story is stuff. Piled high. Wall to wall. Overflowing with the life and collections of a previous owner.

That’s what Jon from Home Buyer Louisiana walked into on his recent visit to a property in Metairie. The house had been inherited, but the new owner didn’t want to deal with the overwhelming cleanout. The place was so packed, even the ceiling had started to collapse in places. A “do not enter” sign had been posted, but Jon stepped in anyway to assess the situation.

Despite the mess, we saw opportunity.

We’ve already worked out a cash price with the seller and are preparing to clean out the property, renovate it, and bring it back to life for a new homeowner. It’s one of the many ways we help people get rid of houses that feel impossible to sell – no cleaning, no repairs, no hassle.

You can watch the video to see the property and hear more about the situation, or read the video transcript below.

What’s up, everybody? It’s Jon with Home Buyer Louisiana.

I’m in a house in Metairie that has been issued kind of a “do not enter” notice – but we had to enter to take a look around and see what we’re dealing with.

As you can see, the person who lived here was quite the collector. There’s not even a path to walk. It’s all just piled up this way. Down the hallway and the other rooms, it’s the same thing all throughout.

The ceiling is collapsing in a couple places too, so I see why they don’t want people in here.

But yeah, we’re gonna see what we can do. We’ve got a lot of junk to clear out, but the seller’s ready to get rid of it. They inherited it from someone who collected too much stuff.

So I’m gonna try to put together a price that works. I think we’re pretty close, actually, we’ve already kind of worked out a price. I’m just confirming everything now.

But yeah, we’re gonna get it cleaned out, fix it up, and get it back on the market for somebody to live in.

We’re pretty excited. We love – well, hate to use the word hoarder – but we love a hoarder house. We see potential where other people might not.

So if you have a house that looks like this, if you’ve inherited one, if it’s just got too much stuff and you don’t feel like messing with it and are ready to sell, give us a shout.
