We Are Closing on This Inherited Hollygrove Home After 15 Months of Title Issues
We are closing on this Hollygrove House After 15 Months of Title Delays
This house in Hollygrove had been tied up in legal limbo for over a year, but we never gave up on helping the family resolve the situation and move forward. Jon from Home Buyer Louisiana recently did a final walkthrough before closing—a full 15 months after we first got the property under contract.
The reason for the delay? Succession complications. The original owner passed away and left the house to his children. One of the heirs was serving a life sentence, and we had to navigate the legal process of obtaining signatures from someone incarcerated. On top of that, there were disagreements among the heirs about how the proceeds should be divided. It was a tough situation, and one that many buyers would have walked away from.
But at Home Buyer Louisiana, we specialize in solving complicated problems. We stuck with it and helped get the title cleared, even as the property condition changed. Moisture damage developed in the back room while it sat vacant, and clutter remained in the front of the house. Still, we moved forward and honored our original commitment.
If you’ve inherited a house with title issues, or you’re dealing with a difficult succession case, you’re not alone. These cases can take time and patience, but there are solutions. We work with attorneys, heirs, and title companies every day to clear up complex ownership issues and help families move on.

What’s up, everybody? It’s Jon with Home Buyer Louisiana. I’m at a house in Hollygrove that we’ve actually had under contract for over a year, trying to get the title work cleared. It’s been an interesting one.
The original owner passed away and left the house to his kids. One of the kids is serving a life sentence in prison, so we had to navigate getting signatures and approval from someone behind bars, which was a challenge. There were also some disagreements over where the proceeds from the sale were going.
Long story short, it’s been a weird one. But here we are—finally—about a year and three months later, ready to close.
I’m doing a final walkthrough now. A lot can change in a year. The front room still has some clutter, and there’s a little moisture damage in the back that wasn’t here before.
That said, I think we’ll be able to work around it. I’m not going to let this fall apart after all this time over some sheetrock and moisture damage.
As you can tell, we literally buy houses in any condition and with any situation. If you’ve inherited a property, or if you have a house you no longer want with difficult title issues or other complications, give us a call.
