We bought this property in the 7th Ward, New Orleans. The owner had been rehabbing it but had run out of money and the property had been adjudicated to the city due to taxes not being paid. This isn’t an issue as we are able to buy houses with tax debt. To complicate the situation the house had been extended to accommodate a 2nd bathroom but the permits were not pulled from the City. The owner didn’t have the funds to finish the work, was facing losing the property and couldn’t list the property with a realtor because of these issues.
We were able to help the owner by buying the house in As Is condition. A lot of the work would have to be redone and there was going to be some back and forth with the city to get the permits right and be able to get an occupancy certificate.
