DIY Renovation Didn’t Work Out? We Bought This North Baton Rouge Fixer

We recently bought this property in North Baton Rouge from a seller who started a renovation but couldn’t finish the project. They had good intentions—DIY crown molding, new paint—but the results fell short. Cabinets were sagging, the floors had soft spots, and the home wasn’t ready to rent or resell.

When the seller realized the work was more than they could handle, they contacted Home Buyer Louisiana for a cash offer. We were able to agree on a price that worked for both sides, and now we’re moving forward to get the house ready for its next chapter—likely as a rental.

If you’re in a similar position, you’re not alone. We buy houses that need repairs all the time. Whether you started a remodel and got stuck, inherited a fixer-upper, or just want to sell without doing any more work—we can help.

You can watch the video to see the property and hear more about the situation, or read the video transcript below.

What’s up, everybody? It’s Jon with Home Buyer Louisiana. I’m here at a house in North Baton Rouge. The previous owners had started a renovation—kind of a DIY job.

You can see spots where the crown molding doesn’t line up. It’s a little hard to tell on camera, but there’s paint spilled on the floor, and overall, the job just needs more work. Some of the cabinets are sagging, and there are soft spots in the flooring.

They gave it a shot, but it still needs a fair amount of work. Whether you’re looking to make it rent-ready or sell it, there’s definitely more to do. The owners couldn’t finish the project, so they came to us. They’re just ready to move on.

We’re here evaluating the property, getting our numbers together. We already have a price in mind that works for us and works for the seller. So we’re crossing the T’s, dotting the I’s, and we should be able to move forward and help them out of their situation.

I think this could make a nice little rental, and we should have it back on the market in no time.

If you’ve got a house like this—in any condition—or even like the one next door that’s vacant and falling down, give us a shout at homebuyerlouisiana.com. Fill out the form for a free cash offer.

Yeah, we buy them all. Hopefully, we can help you out. Talk to you soon—thanks!
