Dillon King with Home Buyer Louisiana recently visited a heavily gutted property in the Holly Grove neighborhood of New Orleans, right off Earhart Boulevard. The house had been stripped down to the studs and left vacant, with no utilities, exposed framing, and major repairs still needed throughout the property.

Even though the home needs extensive work, Dillon pointed out some of the character still left inside, including original hardwood floors, original windows, and aged framing that gives the property its history and charm. Situations like this are common when an owner no longer wants to take on a large renovation project or maintain a vacant property and decides to sell houses as-is.

Hey, it’s Dillon King with Home Buyer Louisiana here in New Orleans, specifically the Holly Grove area right off Earhart. This house may not look beautiful to everyone, but I think it’s beautiful.

It’s been stripped down to the studs, and it’s a lot of work. I don’t know the history of the property. I was just told to come out and do my inspection here.

You can see holes in the subfloor, but there are also original hardwood floors and original windows. I think it’s super pretty when a house is stripped down like this. You can see the aged studs, and who knows how long it’s been gutted.

There’s a lower level here that probably isn’t seven feet tall, but it also has what looks like cathedral ceilings. You can tell the property has been vacant for quite a while. There are no utilities and nothing roughed in here.

For reasons unknown to me, the owner wants it off their hands, so the team sent me out to do my normal inspection. We’re going to buy this house as-is for cash.
